Like any industry, real estate has its own jargon. Some of the terms are peculiar to the Philippines. And a lot of the words may be already familiar to you, but will have a slightly different meaning or emphasis when used by real estate professionals.

GIFT DEED A deed for which the consideration is not material, but love and affection.

GRANT A technical term made use of in deeds of conveyance of land.

GRANTEE The purchaser; The person to whom the grant is made.

GRANTOR The seller of property; The person who conveys title.

GROSS INCOME Total income before deduction for expenses; The actual or estimated total receipts for a give period; The amount remaining after deducting from gross rental value the amount estimated for vacancies and rent losses due to failure to pay rent.

GROUND RENT Payment to the owner for the use of unimproved land; That portion of the total rent paid that represents a return on the land only after allowance is made for the earnings of the buildings.
